About the felucca
Feluccas have carried people and goods on the Nile for thousands of years. Today they are small sailing boats with a single large triangular sail, cushioned benches and room for a small group. There is no engine: the boatman works the sail and the rudder, so the ride is quiet and unhurried, in the middle of the river with Cairo on both banks. After dark the bridges, the Cairo Tower and the Corniche are lit up; by day the river is bright and calm, and the morning and late afternoon are the most pleasant times to sail.

- Pickup and drop-off at your hotel in Cairo by private air-conditioned car, with bottled water and snacks.
- The outing takes about 4 hours in all, including the drive.

- Bring a light jacket in winter, as it is cooler on the water.
